How to Configure VIDIZMO Surveillance App Settings
VIDIZMO Surveillance needs two answers before it can do anything useful: where should it keep recordings, and what should it look for? You give both in the app's settings. Set them once, turn the app on, and every camera you add from then on starts from the same configuration.
To learn what surveillance is and where it lives, see About AI Live Insight.
Prerequisites
- Ensure you belong to a group where the App Management, Surveillance, and Live Stream features are enabled, or have a CAL that grants them.
- A folder in the Library for recordings. You can create one ahead of time or pick one while you set up the app.
Navigate to the VIDIZMO Surveillance App
Start by opening the app's settings, which sit with the other content processing apps.
- Select the menu icon in the top-left corner to open the navigation pane.
- Expand the Admin section and select Portal Settings.
- Go to Apps > Content Processing.
- Find VIDIZMO Surveillance.
- Select the settings icon on the app to open VIDIZMO Surveillance - Settings.
Set the Recording Folder
The first thing to set is where the recordings go. The Recording Folder is the home for every clip your cameras capture, and a single folder holds many recordings, organized inside by camera and time.
Select the Recording Folder field, browse the Library, and choose a folder, for example one named Recordings. To change it later, select the × to clear the choice and pick another.
Note: The recording folder is required — the form cannot be saved without one. Whichever folder you pick is where every clip is stored.
Configure Detection Settings
Next, tell the portal what to look for. Detection Settings is the global default for the whole portal, so it's the starting point for every camera. You can fine-tune it for an individual camera later, on the camera's Camera Alert tab.
To add an object, select Add New Detection Class, then complete the row:
- Detection Class is the object to detect, such as Face, Person, Head, Car, Gun, or License Plate. Add one row per object.
- Object Detection Confidence is the score a detection must reach before it counts. The threshold runs from 10 to 90, with a recommended value of 35. A higher number makes detection stricter, so fewer but more certain results get through.
- Severity Level is how serious a detection of this class is: Low, Medium, or High. Severity decides how alerts are grouped and prioritized on the Operator Dashboard.
Add a row for each object you want to detect. To drop one, select the remove control on its row.
Note: Because these settings are the portal-wide default, every new camera inherits them. When you add a camera, you pick which of these classes that camera watches for. See Add a Camera.
Turn On the App
With the recording folder set and your detection classes in place, turn on the VIDIZMO Surveillance app and save. That's it. The app is live, the Add Camera action is unlocked, and you're ready to add your first camera.
Important: Live surveillance runs on a dedicated surveillance service, separate from the VIDIZMO indexing service that processes uploaded content. Turning on this app doesn't change standard content processing.
